Monster Truck Tour

This is probably the highlight of the entire experience, especially for kids! One of the best things to do in Orlando with kids is to go on a monster truck tour. Kids will love seeing all the different animals and learning about the history of the farm and how the citrus is picked and used. We learned that the farm uses organic waste as fertilizer and no toxic pesticides. If you’re visiting Orlando with kids, don’t miss this! And this is a dog friendly Orlando activity, so your pup can ride too. Our Pug Frankie loved the ride!

Citrus Picking

Of course, you will be citrus picking! If you’re looking for a u pick citrus farm in Orlando near Disney, this is your best bet. With over 500 acres of trees and more than 40 varieties, there is bound to be something everyone in your family likes! Citrus picking in Florida is typically November-May, so plan accordingly.

Keep in mind that ripe, ready to eat oranges have some green in them. Because consumers think that oranges should be orange, the ones from the supermarket are put into a chamber and blasted with ethylene gas, which does nothing for ripening but a lot for the color of the fruit by turning it orange. See the photo below? These oranges were all super sweet and ripe but most would pass it up at the supermarket.

($29) bags and they will even give your kids ID cards to take home so they know what they found. Milana chose the 5 lb bag and it was surprisingly packed with lots of different rocks!

Visit and Feed the Farm Animals

One of the best things to do in Orlando with kids is to visit a petting zoo! Your kids can pet and feed animals like goats, chickens, donkeys, pigs and so much more! There was even an ostrich waiting to be fed. While we didn’t do this and just visited the animals, you can buy animal food at the country store.

Famous for its 100% natural orange juice slushies and creamsicles, the open air market has a lot of goodies you can bring home as a souvenir. Things like small batch bbq sauce and jelly, salsas, soaps and so much more! Be sure to check it out before you leave. We picked up some guava and strawberry jam, and Milana had to have their cheese dip!
